upcycling
The project overflow is about looking at discarded materials without the thought of waste and worthlessness. How can a shipping box, for example, which symbolises short-lived packaging, become something valuable, perhaps even luxurious?
A single-use object is to be given a new meaning outside and after its intended use. For this purpose, it has been transformed into a high-quality handbag. In addition, the inner bag can be removed and used separately so that its useful life is not limited to that of the outer cardboard part.
The design is inspired by personal impressions at a recycling centre – overflowing sacks and containers filled with supposedly worthless materials. Prints based on the upcycled materials were used to reinterpret their special details.
